Finn, the Modern Irish Druid
This page provides a tiny glimpse into the recent writings of Finn, the Modern Irish Druid. These writings are concerned with a monist slant on the arising of everything, and may be of interest, particularly to the kind of folk drawn to the foundational work of George Spencer-Brown, and I introduce them here as a spur to discussion.
To engage with these writings, it is helpful to know something of the background story of my friend Victor Langheld and his Indian Sculpture Park, which was open to the public from the early 1990’s to 2025, at which point the garden finishes its creative purpose.
There have been 5 major phases of output from the park and Victor.
Phase 1: A large field containing dancing Ganeshas and the Wisdom Seat. This field is entered through a Vagina Dentata dedicated to Alan Turing. This is superseded by:
Phase 2: In a birch forest, a canonical series of 6+1 statues speaks to the emergence of everything. This is superseded by:
Phase 3: A large set of stupas contain esoteric formulae that get closer to a modern physical understanding of the process of emergence and manifestation. This is superseded by:
Phase 4: Tiffany, the Dung Beetle, who calls out all past founders of religions and philosophical schools, without fear or favour. This is superseded by:
