Phase 1: Dancing Ganeshas
The park is entered through a large moulded Vagina Dentata dedicated to Alan Turing. (Turing’s abstraction of a computational machine recurs in many forms throughout the park.)
The visitor emerges, as from a womb, into a large field. In the field there is a lone Ganesh reading a book of Basic, a foundational computing language.
At one end, the visitor finds the Wisdom Seat, and is encouraged to sit there and take in the spectacular view of the Sugarloaf Mountain. Enlightenment is suggested, but your mileage may vary.
Then we encounter a group of Ganeshas, five with instruments, and two dancers. This is a joyous assembly. Each Ganesha has an associated rat. Paddy Ganesh is tailored for the Irish location, and plays the Uilleann pipes. His rat sips a pint of what the casual visitor might mistake for Guinness, but on inspection, turns out to contain Genius. Other esoteric markings are found, if sought. Each is carved in India from a single multi-ton stone of granite.
A large statue of Hanuman marks the transition from this joyous phase, and the visitor enters a large 30 year old birch forest. This concludes Phase 1, and is superseded by Phase 2.
