About P-World/R-World

This is one of several attempts to put down in words a fundamental insight. I teach cognitive science by day, and read around in the philosophy of mind, and in neuroscience. I have been frustrated at the shallowness of many models, particularly in cognitive psychology. I have also been appalled at the failure of cognitive science to say anything of note about our rich experiential worlds. Madness, sex, desire, we have no theories worth having here.

I hope that the thesis offered here may provide a useful conceptual scaffold for coming at our experiential lives afresh. A book is in preparation which seeks to take this further and develop the theory more carefully. The ultimate goal is to help to develop a vocabulary that is of use in the diverse communities who study "mind": cognitive science, psychology, neuroscience, but also psychiatry, phenomenology and the contempletive traditions.
